Personal Best

I’ve been running sporadically for a couple of weeks now.  My first post-surgery run was a one-miler in 9:51.  I was pretty excited about that.  I thought I would be crawling, but I wasn’t.  My next run (also one mile) was somewhere around 9:30.  Wow!  I couldn’t believe I cut 20 seconds of my time in a day.  A couple of days later, I did a little bit more than a mile.  Maybe a mile and a quarter, and I think I did that in about 12 minutes.  Not sure.

I wanted to run yesterday but I was lazy and ended up not going for one.  Well, I made up for it today in spades.

I have absolutely no idea how this is possible, but I ran 2.33 miles in 12:17.  Wait, what?!  I looked at my stopwatch and thought, ‘This can’t be right.  This isn’t possible.’  I checked it with mapmyrun.com.  I still didn’t believe it so I went out and retraced my steps to make sure I didn’t unknowingly take a shortcut.

I didn’t.
