I’m awful at tumblr..but it’s summer now!
So I’m about a week late on this post, but the semester is done - officially done because grades closed today. It’s summer! Yayayayayay!
It’s crazy how fast time flies. Graduation was Saturday, and there are a lot of people that I said goodbye to that I probably won’t see ever again or at least not for a very long time. I could be wrong, and I hope I am wrong. The people I’ve met at Berklee these past three years are some of the most incredible (and incredibly talented) people I have had the pleasure to know.
I said goodbye to one of my best friends today, Tom Harrison. He’s off to Los Angeles. It wasn’t so much a goodbye as it was a see-you-soon. I’ll miss him tons between now and our reunion. Tom and I had a lot of adventures together, and I had my first taste of Scotland with him (he’s a Scotsman, after all).
Actually, today (well, yesterday - Thursday) has been full of extreme emotions. I bought a bass today! This one:

A Fender Precision Bass. I can’t wait to get it! I should have it by Monday or Tuesday. As if I didn’t spend enough time with my guitars, now I’ve got a whole other beast to tame: bass. Danielle, Drew, Jordan, Alex, and all my other Maine friends (that aren’t musicians or currently musicians (Alex, but we talked about this)), I’m sorry if you don’t see me as frequently as you did last summer, but the picture above is what will be occupying my time, among other music-related things. Namely playing guitar, brushing up on my theory, songwriting, and learning bass. And all things related to Canary. And I might have an internship. Best summer ever? Sure looks like it! I can’t wait. I might not sleep much, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.
I am seriously beyond excited to get my hands all over my bass. Learning to play bass is going to expand my musicianship so much. I’ll hear things differently, have a better sense of timing, I’ll have more sonic awareness, and I’ll be able to groove better. And it’ll be wicked fun. It’s an entirely new skill set. For a while I’ve said I play bass, but I really don’t. However, I am about to embark on my bass journey, and I couldn’t be more excited if I tried.
Alright, I’m done gushing. At the rate I’m going, who knows when my next post will be. It’ll be soon - I swear. Well, maybe!
